No 23 Flowers Drive

This weatherboard and galvanised iron house was built between 1908-1915. The Wallarah Mining Company built the cottage to house its mineworkers.

This house is longer than most of the houses in Middle Camp.  There was a butcher’s shop on the end at the right and was run by Mr Jones from Swansea.

When the Bridge family moved in the shop was turned into a little flat. Peg Ham (nee Henderson) and her husband Cec lived in the flat.

In 1964 the Coal Company ‘Coal & Allied’ subdivided some of its land. The Company determined that Mr Merv Bridge would purchase the house and land for 400 pounds. Merv Bridge never married and lived there for many years

House sold.
