No 28 Flowers Drive

This weatherboard and galvanised iron cottage was built between 1908-1915.The ‘Wallarah Coal-mining Company built this cottage to house its mineworkers.

The Plumridge family has always lived in this house. Mr Albert and Mrs Eliza Plumridge had five sons; Albert, Reg, Harold, Lawrence and Clarence, who was the baby of the family. They also had two daughters; Olga and Ada. Albert Plumbridge was a very active worker in the P&C at the School for many years.

He was also the agent for a Funeral company and a sign hung on the front fence advertising this for many years.

In 1964 the coal company ‘Coal & Allied subdivided some of its land. The company determined that this house and land would be purchased by Mr

Clarence Plumridge for 400 pounds.

The youngest son, Clarence, stayed on in the house, married and brought up three children, John, Bill and Jan. The house remains in the family and was renovated in 1979 and again in 2006.
