No 3 Lindsley St

This weatherboard house was built around 1889 by the Wallarah Coal-mining Company to house its mineworkers.

The first remembered tenants were the Pierce family.

This was the original home of Sarah Anne Price.

Tom and Annie Price and their children then lived here followed by

Mr and Mrs Cook.

Fred Wiggs and family were the next occupants. The chilcren Keith, Ron and Jennifer attended the Bay school. In 1964 the Coal Company ‘Coal & Allied’ subdivided some of their land. The Company determined that this house and land would be sold to Mr F Wiggs for 350 pounds. The block measured 55 feet at the rear and was over 158 feet in length.

Keith Wiggs and family were the next owners of this house and they sold to the Hurtando’s.  Mr Hurtando died of Leukaemia and the house was sold.

A rear extension has been added along with the best garden in town.

On the riverbank a man Billy Gorden, lived by himself. Now demolished.
