No 52 Flowers Drive

This weatherboard and galvanised iron cottage was built in 1917. The ‘Wallarah Coal-mining Company’ built this cottage to house its mineworkers.

Mrs Celia Hooey her husband Bill and family moved into this house the day the First World War ended.

Celia or Nin as she was known by locals was Secretary of the P & C for many years.

In 1964 the coal company ‘Coal & Allied’ subdivided some of its land. The Company determined that this house and land would be purchased for 400 pounds by Mrs C Hooey.

Her granddaughter Janice lived with her and continued to live in the house that she inherited on her grandmother’s death.

Janice married Joey Diver (brother of Mat) and after his death married Alan Minslow. She lived in the house until 2004 when she eventually sold it.

The house has been on sold twice.
