No 11 Lindsley St

This weatherboard cottage was built around 1889 by the Wallarah Coal-mining Company to house its mineworkers.

Mr and Mrs Ames and family are the first remembered tenants.

Mr and Mrs Ero and Colin Mascord then moved in followed by

Tom and Joan Rutherford.

In 1964 the Coal Company ‘Coal & Allied’ subdivided some of its land. It determined that this house and land would be sold for 320 pounds to Mr T Rutherford. This was a smaller block of land measuring at the front just over 35 feet and at the rear 38 feet and 9 and1/8 inches. The length of the land was 169 feet on the eastern boundary and 172 feet on the western boundary.

The house was sold and is now a permanent rental
