The original weatherboard house was built around 1889 by the Wallarah Coal-mining Company to house its mineworkers.
The first remembered tenants were Mary and John McDougall and their family. There were nine children, two of whom died before reaching the age of three. John McDougall died when he was 76 years and Mary later moved next door with her son and died when she was 90 years old.
In 1964 the Coal Company ‘Coal & Allied’ subdivided some of their land. The Company determined that Mr Jock McDougall would purchase this house and land for 315 pounds. Dennis and Kerry McGregor (McDougall) paid Nanna back 35 pounds The front of the block measured more than 60 feet and the rear was just under 58 and 1/2 feet. The length of the land was 165 feet. When Roy’s daughter, Kerry, married, Dennis McGregor. Roy bought the house for them as a wedding present and Nanna moved next door to live with Roy and Lil.
Kerry and Dennis extended and renovated the house. The first extension was in May 1976 and the second renovation and extension was in May 2002.
House has been onsold twice.
