No 8 Flowers Drive

This weatherboard and galvanised iron cottage was built between 1908-1915. The Wallarah Coal-mining Company built this cottage to house its mineworkers.

First known residents of this house were the Cherry family. There were two sons, Bob and Basil and also a daughter. They all attended the Bay school and when the family left the town the Reid family moved into the house.  Mr Reid worked on pit top and Mrs Reid, Gladys, was a dressmaker. The family had two sons Jack and Les. There was also a daughter named Gladys. Mrs Reid was a dressmaker and produced many bridal dresses for the town.

In 1964 the Coal Company ‘Coal & Allied’ subdivided some of its land. The Company determined that this house and land would be sold for 400 pounds to Mr H Reid.

In 1994 house was owned by G Hargreaves and A M Bower.
