The Wallarah Coal-mining Company around 1889 built this weatherboard cottage.
Granny Forsyth was the first remembered tenant, Mr and Mrs Griffiths came to live with her at one stage. When they moved to another house in Clarke Street their daughter Betty continued to live with her grandmother. Betty married Mr Lionel Ott and they continued to live in the house. The Ott children Lionel, Susan, Marie and Steven attended the Bay school.
In 1964 the Coal Company ‘Coal & Allied’ subdivided some of its land. The Company determined that this house and land would be sold to Mr L Ott for 350 pounds. The block of land measured over 60 feet at the front and 59 feet 1 and ¾ inches at the rear. The length of the land was 165 feet 3 and7/8 inches.
The house was extended at the rear to form a large family room.
House has now been sold.
